Feb 16: Everyone's A Little Bit Racist

** NOTE ** The context to one of the worst songs on today's show, the Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson medley (starting with 10 Little Indians) wasn't given on KPBX, due to my own editing error. The PRX version IS CORRECT. Listen to this episode on PRX (free account required - it's worth it!)

Here's the text of what you should have heard on the radio:

One rock musical takes populist government to task by examining Andrew Jackson's presidency through the lens of today's youth. Andrew Jackson is a self-centered rock star, and he and his followers demean everyone else, from the Spanish to the upper class. Native Americans are the target of most of the abuse. Jackson did force the Trail of Tears, but the musical seems to push even further with the characters' visceral hatred of Native Americans. Here's a little bit in context, from Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.
